L' Empereur

A soft cheese with a washed rind that bears a turnip-like odour and tastes salty and buttery.

This imperial cheese possesses certain unique qualities – it is supple, richly aromatic and composed of a complex flavour palette.

  • “Truly a Gem”

This is well worth a visit! We go here often and the variety is wonderful and the cheese is literally award winning (check out the display). Friends and family who generally think they don’t like anything beyond cheddar are astounded by the number of cheeses they love from here.

  • “A little gem in the region”

In fact, some of their cheeses can be found at Costco, but most of the stronger ones need to be picked up here, and it’s well worth the trip from Montreal (about 50 minutes) near the border.

It’s local, it tastes great, and if you drive another 5 minutes, you’ll be at Lake Champlain (Venise-en-Québec).
